About the Artist
Cathy G. Vaughn is a full-time copper artisan at her studio, Tracery 157, in Richmond Va. She received her BFA from the University of South Carolina and spent over 25 years as a graphic designer. She is a member of the Central Virginia Blacksmiths Guild, the Carolina Designer Craftsman Guild (Raleigh, NC), and the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. She grew up in rural South Carolina and learned the makers’ ethic from her father, a master Marquetarian. She currently resides in Richmond, VA., where she taught herself the basics of coppersmithing and began her love of working with copper over 20 years ago. Her works range from elegant hand-wrought copper candelabra, hand-hammered copper bowls, and her signature work of verdigris abstractions on copper.
