About the Artist
Cathy G. Vaughn is a full-time copper artisan at her studio, Tracery 157, in Richmond Va. She received her BFA from the University of South Carolina and spent over 25 years as a graphic designer. She is a member of the Central Virginia Blacksmiths Guild, the Carolina Designer Craftsman Guild in Raleigh, NC, and the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. She grew up in rural South Carolina and learned the makers’ ethic from her father, a master Marquetarian. She currently resides in Richmond, VA., where she taught herself the basics of coppersmithing and began her love of working with copper over 15 years ago. Her works range from large-scale copper installations, to elegant hand-wrought copper candelabra, to her signature work of botanical etchings on sheet copper.
