About the Artist
Cathy G. Vaughn is a full-time copper artisan at her studio, Tracery 157, in Richmond Va. She received her BFA from the University of South Carolina and spent over 20 years as a graphic designer. She is a juried member of the Carolina Designer Craftsman Guild in Raleigh, NC, and a Master Craftsman in the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. She grew up in rural South Carolina and learned the makers’ ethic from her father, a master Marquetarian. She currently resides in Richmond, VA., where she taught herself the basics of pipe fitting and began her love of working with copper over a decade ago. Her works range from large-scale copper gates and trellises, to elegant hand-wrought copper candelabra, to her signature work of botanical etchings on sheet copper.
